A Passion for Sports Medicine

  • A person receiving first aid treatment on their hand from another person on a sports field. The person providing assistance is wearing blue gloves and has a medical bag nearby.
  • A man is sitting on the ground providing first aid to a boy who is lying on the artificial turf. The man is holding the boy's leg and appears to be checking or treating an injury. There are backpacks and supplies nearby, and the setting appears to be a sports field with a green fence in the background.

Comprehensive Foot and Ankle Sports Injury Care

At our clinic, we provide specialist assessment and treatment for a wide range of foot and ankle sports injuries, supporting everyone from elite athletes to individuals who simply enjoy staying active. Whether your goal is to return to competition, maintain fitness, or walk pain-free again, our approach is built around accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and progressive rehabilitation.

Foot and Ankle Injuries We Commonly Treat

Foot and ankle injuries are among the most frequent problems seen in sport due to the repetitive loading, impact forces, and rapid changes in direction involved in training and competition. Common conditions we assess and manage include:

  • Plantar plate injuries

  • Achilles tendinopathy (mid-portion and insertional)

  • Plantar heel pain and plantar fasciitis

  • Ankle sprains and chronic ankle instability

  • Peroneal and posterior tibial tendon injuries

  • Stress reactions and stress fractures

  • Metatarsalgia and forefoot pain

  • Sesamoid injuries

  • Sinus tarsi syndrome

  • Turf toe and lesser toe injuries

  • Overuse injuries related to running, football, court sports, and gym training

These conditions can affect performance, confidence, and long-term joint health if not managed correctly. Early assessment and a clear management plan are key to preventing recurrence and long-term complications.

Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound

Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective treatment. We offer in-clinic diagnostic ultrasound scanning, allowing real-time assessment of soft tissue structures including tendons, ligaments, fascia, and joint capsules.

Diagnostic ultrasound helps us:

  • Confirm or rule out specific pathologies

  • Assess injury severity

  • Guide treatment decisions

  • Monitor tissue response during rehabilitation

This means faster answers, fewer unnecessary delays, and a more targeted treatment plan from the outset.

Injection Therapies

Where appropriate, we provide ultrasound-guided injection treatments as part of a comprehensive management strategy. These are always used judiciously and combined with rehabilitation, not as a standalone solution.

Injection options may be considered to:

  • Reduce pain and inflammation

  • Improve function when symptoms are limiting progress

  • Facilitate participation in rehabilitation

All injection decisions are based on clinical findings, imaging results, and the individual goals of the patient.

Shockwave and Laser Therapy

We also offer extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and therapeutic laser treatment for suitable conditions, particularly chronic or persistent tendon and soft tissue injuries.

These modalities can:

  • Stimulate tissue healing

  • Reduce pain sensitivity

  • Improve tolerance to loading during rehab

They are commonly used alongside exercise-based rehabilitation rather than as isolated treatments.

Progressive Rehabilitation and Return-to-Sport Planning

Rehabilitation is central to everything we do. Every patient receives a progressive, individualised rehabilitation plan designed to restore strength, mobility, control, and confidence.

Rehabilitation may include:

  • Load management strategies

  • Strength and conditioning for foot, ankle, and lower limb

  • Plyometric and impact progression where appropriate

  • Sport-specific drills and return-to-play planning

Our aim is not just to get you out of pain, but to reduce reinjury risk and improve long-term performance and resilience.
